June 15, 2024: According to the latest Alberta crime news report, three suspected street gang members were arrested on drug and weapons charges following a shooting incident in Fox Lake, Alberta, last Friday morning
According to a news release issued by the RCMP on Saturday, the Fort Vermilion/Fox Lake RCMP responded to reports of gunfire at around 11:20 a.m. along Laboucan Road. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of three men and the search of a nearby residence, assisted by the RCMP Police Dog Services and the Western Alberta District General Investigation Section.
During the search, authorities confiscated five long guns, two pieces of body armor, and a small quantity of suspected cocaine. The police have identified the arrested individuals as residents of Fox Lake and declared them members of the A$AP gang, which is known for engaging in drug trafficking, robberies, and home invasions across central and northern Alberta. The acronym A$AP stands for “Always Strive and Prosper.”
Dusty Eric Laboucan, aged 29, faces multiple charges, including five counts of unauthorized firearm possession and unsafe firearm storage. He is also charged with possession of body armor, a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and a controlled substance.
His relatives, Stanley Bill Laboucan, 27, and Luke Hank Laboucan, 34, are charged with pointing and discharging a firearm with intent and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Additional charges against them include unauthorized weapon possession, careless use of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited device.
The three accused were presented before a justice of the peace and are currently held in custody. Dusty and Stanley are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Vermilion on Monday, while Luke is set to appear on June 25.
Staff Sgt. Kevin Wright, the Detachment Commander of the Fort Vermilion RCMP, expressed his commitment to addressing the community’s concerns about firearm and gang-related violence in Fox Lake, John D’Or Prairie, and Little Red River Cree Nation areas.
“The Fort Vermilion/Fox Lake RCMP are always listening to the concerns of the communities we serve,” he stated. “We are happy to be able to address these issues and will keep on doing so in the future.”
