About ProServe Alberta

ProServe is an essential training program for anyone serving or selling alcohol in our province. Whether you’re a bartender, server, or involved in special events, ProServe certification ensures you know to keep your workplace and community safe.

ProServe doesn’t replace the on-the-job training you receive from your employer. It also doesn’t cover every liquor law or AGLC policy. Still, it provides crucial social responsibility training to reduce underage drinking, over-consumption, impaired driving, and liquor-related harms and violence. Introduced in 2004 as the Alberta Server Intervention Program (ASIP), ProServe standardizes responsible liquor service training across Alberta.

Getting ProServe certified ensures you understand your duty of care and how to prevent harm to customers, guests, coworkers, and the public. It also gives you a good grasp of Alberta’s liquor laws and AGLC policies, helping you provide safe and responsible liquor service. Plus, private clubs and special event venues might require this certification for insurance purposes.
