Zak is a dedicated wheelchair rugby player from Okotoks, Alberta, competing in classification 0.5 at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. He has achieved remarkable recognition in wheelchair rugby, receiving the 3.5 Best in Class award at the 2022 Canada Cup, the 2016 Canadian Championships, and the 2014 World Championships. His leadership was evident as Canada’s flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the 2015 Parapan American Games. He has also been named Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2015 World Challenge, the 2014 World Championships, and the 2014 Canada Cup. Known for his forward playing style, he initially explored other sports but found his true calling in wheelchair rugby.
Outside of sports, his ambitions include winning a medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris and pursuing a career as an architectural technologist to help people with impairments. His journey began in 2011 when he was drawn to wheelchair rugby, finding it the best fit after trying Para ice hockey and wheelchair basketball.
