Michael is a competitive para cyclist from Calgary, Alberta, competing in the C3 classification at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. He began cycling at age 12, finding the sport unique and beneficial for managing cerebral palsy. His first Para-cycling race occurred in 2014, and he has been committed to the sport ever since. However, in 2019, Michael was diagnosed with relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S), which occurs when athletes do not consume enough food to meet the energy demands of their training and daily activities. After a break, he resumed training in 2023, working with strength and conditioning coach Bryan Yu at the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta.
