Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with visual impairments. It involves two teams of three players each, who try to throw a ball embedded with bells into the opponent’s goal. Players rely on their sense of hearing to track the ball and their sense of touch for positioning on the court. The game requires intense concentration, coordination, and communication among teammates.
Classification:
- B1 Classification: This classification is for athletes with very low or no visual acuity. All goalball players wear eyeglasses to ensure a level playing field, making the game equally challenging for all participants.
