What is Class 1 in Wheelchair Basketball?
In wheelchair basketball, Class 1 is the classification for athletes with the most severe level of physical impairment. Class 1 players typically have impairments significantly affecting their trunk control and balance. These athletes may have limited or no leg movement and minimal trunk stability, meaning they must rely heavily on their upper body for movement and control. This might include individuals with conditions like spinal cord injuries at a higher level, which results in less trunk function.
